Andrea Thornberry Obituary, Death – The devoted husband of Lane Crowell Thornbury and inhabitant of Killingworth, Connecticut, John Ryan Thornbury passed away on January 2 in the presence of his loved ones. When he died, Lane Crowell Thornbury was there by his side. He was the son of Dorothy and Dr. Harry Thornbury, who at the time of his birth both lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut. John loved sports and indulging in physical activity, but skiing was without a doubt his favorite pastime.

He spent a significant portion of his free time reading, which also gave him a great deal of comfort if he was depressed. He has a degree in finance and has worked primarily with Merrill Lynch throughout his career. His background is in finance professionally. John served as a soldier in the American Army during the Korean War. He had served in the conflict. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son Jeffrey and his wife Leslie, his daughter Andrea and her husband Rob VanOstenbridge, and his son Craig and his wife Julie.

John’s son Craig and his son Craig’s wife Julie are also left behind. Along with his wife, Rob VanOstenbridge, Andrea, John’s daughter, is also left behind. One of John’s survivors is Rob. His sister Jane Dunne, who is currently a resident of Chicago, and his six grandchildren also survive him. He was a man who was adored and held in high regard. There will be an intimate memorial service for the family. A memorial service will be performed in his honor later on in the spring to celebrate his life. There will only be his personal family and close friends present.

John’s memorial gifts may be donated to the Killingworth Ambulance Association (P.O. Box 749, Killingworth, Connecticut 06419) or Operation Smile (3641 Faculty Boulevard, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23453), both of which are excellent charities. The arrangements will be handled by Guilford Funeral Home, which is located in Guilford at 115 Church Street.
