Marian Townsend Death, Obituary – On December 4, 2022, at the age of 97, Marian Townsend died away in a calm and serene manner. She was in the safe environment of her own house, surrounded by her loved ones. Marian Martin’s birthday is April 4th, and she was born in White County, Indiana, to Merle and Anna Marie (Dempster) Martin, who have now passed away. Marian received her elementary education in a one-room schoolhouse, which contributed to the development of her sharp aural and visual learning ability. She made use of these gifts throughout her entire life in her quest for knowledge. She was a self-taught specialist on Native American history and artifacts, and she could recognize and imitate the sounds of hundreds of different bird species.
In addition to plants and other forms of wildlife. She had a passion for exploring new places and visited Israel when she was 76 years old. She was recognized for her free-spiritedness and sense of adventure wherever she went, and she used those qualities to spread her amazing love of the Lord to everyone she came in contact with. She worked hard alongside her husband in the day-to-day operations of the farm, but she also made time to appreciate life as an Upland farm wife by going for walks in the countryside, listening to the birds, and taking in the beauty of nature.
Among her many honors and affiliations are those with the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church Women of Great Faith, the mission board of the Upland Mennonite Church now known as the Upland Community Church, the Grant County Homemakers Association, the Girl Scouts of the USA, the Audubon Society, the Asherwood Nature Center, the White River Archeology Association, the Wandering Wheels ministry, and the Mississinewa 1812 charter. In April of 1959, she tied the knot with George Oren Townsend, and soon after, the couple settled down on the farm in Upland. Marcella A.
Tom and Judy Mallet, Janice L. Kinder, Linda L. (Daniel J.) Lincoln, and Oren G. Townsend were Marian’s four children Mark DiPaolo. Her greatest joy was spending time with her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. They were the crowning achievement of her life. She showed her children both love and devotion to the Lord throughout their upbringing. Her parents, Merle and Anna Marie Martin, as well as her husband, George, daughter Marcella Mallet, son-in-law Gregory Kinder, four brothers, Merle, Hugh, Jack, and Dempster Martin, and two sisters, Nancy Martin and Carol Schroeder, passed away before she did.
