Gary Godbout Obituary, Death – On December 17, 2022, Gary Michael Godbout, who was 57 years old at the time, passed away. Gary spent his formative years working on farms in the Seneca, Baileyville, Centralia, and Holton, Kansas regions. Gary received his high school certificate from Holton High School in 1950. He began looking for employment after completing his diploma and decided to accept a position at the A&P Grocery Store, which was located on the Holton town square. He joined the US Navy in 1952, and during the Korean War, he distinguished himself in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

He received a Purple Heart. When Gary was discharged from the service in 1956, he relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. He enrolled at Rockhurst College there, where he eventually earned a degree. He retired and departed Bendix/Allied Signal, which would later become Honeywell, in 1994, having worked there for 37 years. He left Honeywell, which did not yet exist. Gary worked for Ralph and Tom Boehm Farms in the Spring Hill/Olathe, Kansas area for a while after leaving his former job. Gary had previously been employed by another company.

Gary found great delight in working in the Roaring River State Park in the southwest of Missouri, where he also enjoyed farming and trout fishing. As a loving and committed parent who valued his relationship with his children, he put them first in everything he did. Everything he did was centered around his children. Before he was born, his mother and father, as well as his older brother Charles (Chuck) and sister Delores, had all left the country. The most recent members of his family to die away were his parents (Dee).

His daughter Sue Gustafson, sons David (and wife Sherri), Gary (and wife Margaret), six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren are among his living heirs. The visitation will take place on Friday, December 23, from 9:30 to 11:00, and the funeral ceremony will start at 11:00. The St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church, which may be found at 14251 Nall Ave Overland Park, Kansas 66223, will host both occasions.
