Gerald Coon Death, Obituary – Gerald H. Coon, Sr., 83, of Camden, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 18, 2022, with his loved ones by his side. He was born on July 18, 1939, in Utica, New York, to Gerald G. Coon and Christine Rock. In 1958, he earned his diploma from Utica Free Academy. On December 30, 1960, in Utica, New York, he married Cynthia Klimek. After graduating, Jerry enlisted in the US Marines and served from February 1958 to August 1962.
He was a line foreman at Niagara Mohawk for 32 years. After retiring, he spent some time driving school buses for the Camden School District. In Camden, New York, Jerry was the Arthur S. Moran Post #66 commander. He coached the Legion Baseball team and played softball for the Bombers for more than 30 years. He belongs to the 999th Marine Corps League and the LZ Old Corps. Jerry enjoyed being outside and was a fan of the New York Yankees.
Cindy, his wife, his parents, Joshua Fox, a granddaughter, Jean, Geraldine, and Helen, his three sisters, and Barbara Curtis and Judi Klimek, his in-laws, all predeceased him. Jerry is survived by his three daughters Dawn & Paul Fox of Camden, NY, Kimberley Coon of Sylvan Beach, NY, and Kelly & Tim Littler of Camden, NY; his son Jerry & Holly Coon, Jr. of Taberg, NY; his nine grandchildren named MacKenzie, Madison, Hayley, Holden, Aubrey, Kendall, Riley, Kayla, and Austin; his six great-grandchildren named Sophie, Weston, Kylie, Karson, Atlas, and A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m.
On December 22, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Camden, New York. There will be a burial in St. John’s Cemetery in Camden, New York. Family and friends may pay their respects at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home in Camden, New York, on December 21, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. (109 Main Street).
