Barry Cullen Obituary – A former National Hockey League player who was also the owner of a well-known car shop in Guelph has passed away. He had been with the business for a very long period. When Barry Cullen passed away, he had lived for 87 years. Cullen, who had been born in Ottawa, moved to St. Catharines with his family and ended up playing an important part in the victory of the St. Catharines Teepees in the 1954 Memorial Cup. He was a player in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1955 through 1960, and he took part in a combined 219 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings during that time. His NHL career spanned the years 1955 through 1960. In 1964, he decided to hang up his skates and retire from the sport of ice hockey after spending some time playing with the Buffalo Bisons of the American Hockey League.
In 1969, Cullen purchased a General Motors dealership in the city of Guelph. That dealership, now known as Barry Cullen Chevrolet and located at 905 Woodlawn Road West in the Guelph Auto Mall, is still in operation today. 1969 was the year that Cullen made the purchase. The family business of selling automobiles is presently being managed by the third generation of the family. In the year 1983, Cullen’s first wife, Loretta Keating, who had been married to someone else, passed away. In addition to Judy Taylor, the woman who was his second love, he is survived by a sizable number of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is also survived by Judy Taylor.
