Brent Kopacka Death, Obituary – According to a statement that was released today by the Whitman County Coroner’s Office, Brent Lee Kopacka, age 36, passed away as a result of an event that took place on Thursday in the 1000 block of Southeast Latah Street in Pullman. The news was shared in an announcement issued by the office. Pullman was the location where the event in question took place. Pullman Police Department officers reportedly rushed to the 1000 block of Latah Street in a hurry on Wednesday evening after receiving a report of a man who was allegedly making threats to kill his roommates in their apartment.

The man’s name has not been released. The aforementioned housemates were the ones who were living in the flat in question. It is stated that a witness has come forward with their version of the events that took place. Officers made numerous attempts to contact with Kopacka, but he refused to come out of his apartment and instead barricaded himself inside. Despite these efforts, officers were ultimately unsuccessful. In the later hours of that day, officials from Whitman County reached out to the Washington State Patrol in an effort to get some assistance.

Even after members of the Whitman County Regional SWAT Team and crisis negotiators from the Pullman Police Department arrived at the scene, Kopacka continued to fire rounds from within his apartment. This was the case even after they had entered the building. Very early on Thursday morning, a member of the SWAT Team opened fire on Kopacka, ultimately resulting in the death of the suspect. Kopacka was struck by many bullets. During the time that the SWAT Team was evacuating the building, it was discovered that he had already passed away inside the apartment. The coroner issued a statement saying that it was determined that the manner of death was a homicide, and that it was determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. The statement was made in a news release. A gunshot wound was also listed as the cause of death in the autopsy report by the coroner.
