Kathy Sexton Obituary, Death – A Riverton resident called Kathleen Ann Menichetti-Sexton, 74, passed away at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois, on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born on August 18, 1948, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Bertha Pattarozzi and Oliver Menichetti. In Taylorville, Illinois, on September 6, 1969, Kathleen married Danny Sexton. Kathy embodied the perfect matriarch and everything that a family entails. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Kathy was a compassionate and helpful person who never judged others and consistently helped those in need. Her love of people motivated her to pursue a career as a teacher. She was one of those persons who enjoyed and found satisfaction in the accomplishments of others. She provided a consistent source of light for everyone moving through life. Kathy would make sure you never went hungry or felt empty within if you ever visited her. Food was her love throughout life. Devout Catholic Kathy often visited St. James Catholic Church in Riverton, Illinois.

She spent years working out and giving back to her community at the Riverton Knights of Columbus, where she also made friends for life. Kathy treated everyone with courtesy and respect. She showed her unmatched generosity and grace by showering her husband, her family, and her friends with her selfless love and support. She was not just a wife and mother, but also my best friend. Kathy was beautiful on the inside and out, and her presence improved everything.

Kathleen is survived by her children Ryan (Amy) Sexton, Todd (Sarah) Sexton, and Lori (George) Benedict of Petersburg, Illinois. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandkids Olivia, Bryce, and Alexa Benedict of Petersburg, Illinois, and Lucas Sexton of Riverton, Illinois. Her parents passed away before her. The Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, Illinois will be welcoming visitors on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral ceremonies, which will start at 11:00 AM the following day at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, will be officiated by Father Raphael DeMoreno.

At Oak Hill Cemetery, there will be a direct burial. Donations in her honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Springfield Animal Protective League. The family is receiving planning assistance from the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, Illinois.
