His second love, after radio, was acting, and he participated in a number of productions at theaters in Cumbria and Lancashire.
We offer our sympathies to his family, close friends, and members of the audience. Garstang Musical Productions was shocked to learn that Simon Yaxley, lovingly known as “Yakkers” by everyone in our audience, had gone away on December 21, 2022. For many years, Simon was a crucial part of Garstang Musical Productions. He was also a really kind guy and a great actor. He was adored by everyone for his contagious smile, endearing personality, and genuine heart. Everyone will miss him. We would like to offer Simon’s friends and family our condolences.
Until tomorrow, Yakkers. We regret to inform you of the demise of Simon Yaxley, a dear friend and important member of our neighborhood. Simon was a gifted comic actor who could inject physical humor into any character he played with warmth and perfect comic timing. His most recent appearance on stage was in the spring’s “One For The Road” at the Green Room, where he played the helpless Roger Fuller. Simon was a wonderful friend to all of us, a talented musician, and a good person. Everyone with whom he performed was in awe of his energy and graciousness.
A gentlemanly illustration. We lament that we will miss him. We were both shocked and utterly devastated to learn of the passing of longtime friend and BATS member Simon Yaxley. In the realm of Am Dram, Simon was constantly working on a number of works with other civilizations. We’ll never be able to figure out how he managed to memorize the lines for all of these. Simon was a fantastic performer who enjoyed success in both his radio and theater careers. He always had a joke or quip prepared and was tolerant of newer/younger members. Many locals will be saddened by the loss of his endearing stage presence and lovely radio voice. He entered our company at the perfect time.
