Tirrell Smith Death, Obituary – The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has made public the identify of the man whose corpse was pulled from the Allegheny River on Thursday afternoon. The body was found in the lower section of the river. The body was found not too far from the point where East Deer Road joins the river, which was the location of the recovery. The discovery was made in the neighborhood that is roughly centered on the point where the river meets East Deer.
The deceased person was identified as Tirrell Lamont Smith, and the medical examiner determined that he was forty years old at the time of his passing, as per the results of the investigation. Inspector Mike Peairs of the Allegheny County Police Department stated that Smith was allegedly born and raised in the city of Grand Rapids, which is located in the state of Michigan. Inspector Peairs is a member of the Allegheny County Police Department. On Thursday, the authorities announced that the medical examiner would perform an autopsy in order to determine the cause of death as well as the circumstances surrounding how it occurred.
Additionally, the authorities stated that they would look into the circumstances surrounding how the death occurred. This past Friday, neither of these was made accessible to the general public so that they could be viewed. On Thursday afternoon, someone spotted the corpse of the deceased person floating in the river and contacted 911 to inform the authorities of its position. Because of this, the officials were able to quickly arrive at the scene and begin their inquiry as soon as it was feasible to do so.
Just a few minutes after 3 o’clock in the afternoon, a law enforcement officer from the Tarentum Police Department arrived, at which point the search operation was immediately put into action. The officer was taken down the river by a person who possessed a private boat and was located in close proximity to the Tarentum boat launch. In a short amount of time following their arrival, members of the Eureka Fire Rescue and EMS team promptly joined an existing search effort that had already gotten underway.
The corpse of the deceased person was discovered a little distance upstream, a couple of hundred yards, from the boat launch that is situated off of East Deer beach. Beachgoers who were volunteering to clean up the area were the ones who discovered the find. When an investigation involves a fatality, it is standard procedure for the Tarentum Police Department to turn over the investigation to the Allegheny County Police Department once they have completed their preliminary investigation of the case and are ready to move on to the next phase of the investigation.
