James Mutchler Obituary, Death – James Allen Mutchler, 67, of Point Comfort, entered into eternal life. On February 14, 1955, in Baytown, Texas, Harold E. and Grace Elizabeth (Hill) Mutchler welcomed him into the world. According to Sgt. Ruben San Miguel with the Texas Department of Public Safety, James allegedly died after the Ford F-150 he was operating on State Highway 172 was struck head-on, set ablaze, and completely eaten. After crossing the center line, Ler Htoo, a 19-year-old Houston resident driving a Nissan Altima, struck Mutchler.

Cyndi Poulton, a justice of the peace for Jackson County, declared Mutchler and Htoo dead at the scene. Aye Nay Htoo, Htoo’s passenger, was taken to Hermann Memorial in Houston and is presently there in a critical but stable condition, according to San Miguel. James attended Victoria College after graduating from Calhoun High School. Over the years, he had a variety of posts at the nearby chemical facilities. He was raised in a rural family and farmed for more than thirty years. When he was nine years old, he ran his first combine.

He was extremely mechanical, had an engineering mentality, and could fix or accomplish practically anything if he set his mind to it. He has long been a Parkway Church participant. James was incredibly kind-hearted and loved his family dearly. His grandkids referred to him as “Pops.” Many people loved him, and his passing will be deeply felt.
