Larry Hern Death, Obituary – In the wake of the tragic passing of Honorary fireman Larry “Dink” Hern, the Pratt Volunteer Fire Department is in a state of sadness as they share the news with the community. Hern was a member of our organization for more than 15 years before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. During that time, he worked his way up through the ranks. During the time that he worked for us, he was also promoted to the rank of Captain. We are thankful that he is a part of our history, and it is our hope that the legacy he has left behind will go on for many years to come.
During this time of struggle, we want his family to know that we are thinking about and praying for them. There are also two half sisters, Charlotte Whitehall of Oklahoma and Nora Mae White of Missouri, as well as four grandchildren named Emily Dearing, Koda Dearing, Hayden Hern, and Carter Hern. His departure was preceded by the deaths of all four of his half brothers and one of his half sisters. He was the last of his family to pass away. On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at one o’clock in the afternoon, the funeral services are going to take place at the funeral home. The Reverend Ken Mathes is going to act as the master of ceremonies for the event.
At the time of the decedent’s burial in the California City Cemetery, full military honors will be presented to the individual or individuals who have passed away. Additionally, visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from noon to 1 PM. The ceremony will get underway at 12 in the afternoon. Send memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service, which is located at 100 S. Oak Street, California, Missouri 65018.
