RIP Martin Connolly was the man. Before beginning his studies at City College of New York for a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree, Marty was a switchman for the New York Telephone Company. He served in the United States Army from 1963 until 1966, during which time he was honorably discharged. As a result of his military service, his family was qualified to receive assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in the form of disability-related adaptations to their homes, medical devices, and other forms of assistance.
This assistance was provided in exchange for their gratitude for his service. Marty had an uncanny knack for making things work again. Working on the cars and projects of his family and neighbors, as well as finding solutions to any bizarre issues that arose, offered him a great deal of satisfaction. He was a kind and patient man who never grumbled or spoke ill of anyone else in the company he kept. He was also very patient with his own children. Marty was a devoted husband to his wife Mary Ellen for 53 years, and he was a doting father to his daughter Susan Marjamaa and son Tom Connolly. Marty and Mary Ellen had two children: Susan and Tom.
Marty and Mary Ellen were married for a total of 53 years. In addition, he is survived by his cherished grandchildren, Olivia Wan, Ethan Wan, Dylan Wan, and Hunter Marjamaa; in addition, he is survived by his siblings, Eileen (and Donald) Daly, Michael (and Betty) Connolly, Mary Connolly, and John (and Barbara) Connolly, along with their children and grandchildren.
